This test method permits detection within 30 days of the potential for deleterious alkali-silica reaction of combinations of cementitious materials, lithium nitrate admixture and aggregate in mortar bars. The cementitious materials are composed of various proportions of hydraulic cement, pozzolans and ground granulated blastfurnace slag.

This specification covers materials for use as anti-washout admixtures to be added to portland cement concrete mixtures for purposes of preventing washout of cement and other fine fractions of materials from underwater concrete. This specification stipulates tests of an antiwashout admixture either with a standard concrete, as described in 11.1 through 11.3, or with a concrete proposed for specific work (11.4). Unless specified otherwise by the purchaser, the tests shall be made using the standard concrete, as described in 11.1 through 11.3.
