PWTB 200-1-95 Soil Composting for Explosives Remediation: Case Studies and Lessons Learned

This Public Works Technical Bulleting (PWTB) presents case studies and lessons learned from several Army cleanup sites where composting has been implemented as a remediation technique for soils contaminated with explosives and nitroaromatic materials. Composting has presented various advantages, including cost savings, over incineration which is another common method used for remediation of explosives-contaminated soil. This document provides guidance and recommendations for future implementation of composting as a remediation technique.
