This 2020 Energy Exchange Extra session provides the attendee with an understanding of cybersecurity as it encompasses both information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) systems, the similarities and differences, which standards apply when, and tools and approaches for monitoring and detection of OT systems. Attendees will also learn how compromised systems are recovered.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this training, attendees will be able to:

  • Differentiate between IT and OT with respect to cybersecurity practices;
  • Distinguish how IT cybersecurity tactics techniques and protocols are and are not applied to OT systems;
  • Develop an understanding the process of reconstituting compromised OT systems; and
  • Explore automated tools and manual monitoring available.
